Planning a Trip With Baby ~

It’s vacation time…with a baby!

As exciting as it is to go on vacation, there are lots of things to prep for when bringing your little one along. You have to bring yourself back to reality for just a bit before going in full vacation mode. Here are a few things to prepare for when planning for a vacation with your baby.

Be prepared financially. Always have something set aside just in case of an emergency. Car broke down? Covered. Need to stay an extra night at a hotel/Airbnb due to bad weather? Covered. Groceries? Covered.  Paying for extra seat on plane for baby?  Covered.

Plan where you are staying. If you’re staying at a hotel, be sure to pack your diaper bag with extra diapers, formula if needed, LOTS of extra clothes, baby blanket, pacifier, diaper rash cream, lotions for baby, and all of the self-care needs for baby. If you’re staying with a friend or a relative, packing extra is still necessary, but making sure that you are also respectful of other people’s space will reduce your stress.  It is often a lot easier to pack baby’s belongings ahead of time and ship them directly to your destination.  Have the heavy, bulky diapers, wipes and other essentials ready when you arrive.  If shipping to a hotel or Air BNB call ahead and get the shipping instructions.

Know what to expect with the weather and be prepared no matter what. Does the forecast call for sunshine and high temps? Great! But pack a jacket, too. Rainy and cold? Darn, but pack lighter clothes just in case!  Don’t forget baby’s sunscreen.

You will want to pack all of the cutest baby gear you have, but also be mindful. Bring things that will be helpful and beneficial for your trip. If you have baby wearing gear, bring it. It will save you at times! Bringing a good, lightweight baby stroller can be beneficial as well. We want you to have the best vacation ever, but we also want you to be prepared for anything. Happy and safe travels!

Other tips:

Bring your own utensils for baby in a sealed case to reduce contact from others.

Bring disinfectant wipes with you to make sure area around you and baby is very clean.

Bring disposable table top covers for clean surfaces for baby to eat and play.

Do your research on buying a seat for baby and having them travel strapped in a car seat on the plane!
